Müpa Melody Wheel

The world’s largest interactive music box premiered to the general public in November 2015. There were close to 30 000 visitors who marvelled at this innovative and spectacular mechanism in one week at the Allee mall, and several hundred visitors actually spun the giant musical “treadwheel”. With the help of the Müpa Budapest Melody Wheel, visitors had the chance to connect with music in a novel and entertaining way.

In the wake of its success, the Müpa Budapest Melody Wheel was moved to the heart of downtown Budapest, Madách tér in the 7th District, so anyone who had missed out the year before had the chance to try it now. In addition to music heard the year before, the repertoire was extended, and now included the most popular tune from the Müpa Budapest Melody Wheel online music editing application.  Apart from the winning musical composition, visitors could choose the Ride of the Valkyries from Wagner’s Ring tetralogy, and Nino Rota’s music composed for Fellini’s Oscar-winning movie, 8 1/2. Needless to say, the most popular songs from the year before were still available, thus Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2., a hit song by the band called Halott Pénz, and music from the films Vuk and the Harry Potter series could be played from 12 to 8pm every day between May 28 and June 5.

The inauguration ceremony was be held at 3pm on May 28.

With the help of a smartphone, anyone was be able to relive the experience either on the spot or at home, using the BlippAR application (Android / iOS / Windows). All you needed to do is find the Müpa Budapest Melody Wheel logo, open the application to scan it with your phone’s camera, and the game can start.
You were be able to play the original Müpa Budapest Melody Wheel’s songs anywhere and anytime, and on top of that, you could compete with others based on your score.
