Each season, the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) selects a total of six young talents or ensembles to present themselves on the most prestigious concert stages of the Old Continent. At the second Budapest concert of this year's series, the Hungarian audience has the chance to get to know a soloist and a trio. The selection of pieces to be played by Luxembourg-born pianist Cathy Krier reveals her diversity as a musician and openness to masterpieces of every age. She plays excerpts... from the rarely heard keyboard music of Jean-Philippe Rameau, one of the greatest composers of the 17th-18th centuries, as well as a devilishly difficult and colourful set of pieces by György Ligeti.
Nominated for the Rising Stars programme by Philharmonie Luxembourg.
An unusual formation of clarinet, cello and piano, Trio Catch has set as its goal the performance of works by contemporary composers. The three ladies attended the legendary summer master classes at Darmstadt, and in 2014 received one of Germany's most prestigious awards given to young artists, the 15,000 euro Berenberg Culture Prize.
Nominated for the Rising Stars programme by Kölner Philharmonie.
