International Dance Day has been held on 29 April, the birthday of classical ballet giant Jean-Georges Noverre, since 1983. For many years on this day, the most important celebration of the art of dance, the Hungarian Dance Association has collaborated with the National Dance Theatre to organise a gala night in which the Association hands out its professional awards, together with the awards of the Zoltán Imre Foundation and the Zoltán Nagy Jr Foundation, in addition to naming the winners of the... Viktor Fülöp Dance Scholarship. The gala night gives the audience a look at a representative selection from the productions by the artists and performers being honoured in 2016. The award-winners of 2016 who are planned to be featured in the show are the Yvette Bozsik Company, the Győr School of Dance and Fine Arts, the Háromszék Dance Ensemble (of Sepsiszentgyörgy/Sfântu Gheorghe), the Hungarian National Ballet, the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble, the Hungarian Dance Academy, Milán Maurer, Ballet Pécs, Pécs High School of the Arts and Zsófia Pirók.
