This series is conceived for elementary school children. The goal is to bring them into closer contact with those musical genres they may not come across in their normal, everyday musical experience or in the school curriculum. There will be a one hour interactive concert organised especially for school groups, where we will journey across the landscapes of different musical genres, including instrumental folk music, world music and jazz, exploring their crossovers and connections.
...The a cappella trio Dalinda, backed by three outstanding instrumentalists, presents stories of the passage of time and the twists of human fate that are sometimes cheerful and uplifting and in turns bittersweet and instructive. All through the essential sincerity of Hungarian folk music and some of its perhaps less familiar melodies. The ensemble's programme introduces us to songs of constant change and growth, and of people in search of themselves. This musical process, buttressed with folk-tale elements and fashioned into a story, provides an occasion for learning about the traditions of singing both authentic and contemporary folk tunes, and offers an opportunity to join in a shared musical experience.
