The two question marks placed in the title of the show are not there by chance: the young musicians of the band perpētuum have prepared a long list of intriguing questions. What might musical jam and peach jam have in common? And why is it that all jazz musicians - without exception - get worked up by the mention of jam sessions? What does the expression 'jamming' actually signify: the musical elements, the solo pieces or the constantly repeated loop? Is it true that loops only really sound good in solos? And the most important question: will the band play together with the audience? Well, of course!
Since 2019, perpētuum, whose music is based around various pop-rock elements, have been great favourites among followers of the Hungarian pop scene. The band members, namely Fruzsina Girincsi (vocals), Dániel Takács (guitar), Áron Sárosi (bass guitar) and Attila Telek (drums) have employed numerous genres to create their own unique style. Their experimental music brings joy to fans of jazz, rock and pop, while there are also traces of psychedelia and electronica in their English and Hungari...an-language songs. In addition to their domestic and international festival and club appearances, and recognition from some notable music competitions, they are particularly proud of the fact that they won the Jury Prize at the Müpa Budapest Jazz Showcase, which promotes talented young musicians. Their debut full-length album, White Canvas, was released in November 2021. Their operational principle is simple: everyone throws their favoured ingredients into the mixer. Then, with a bundle of energy and some innovative ideas they manage to create something new that has never been heard before. In this upcoming edition of Musical Elevenses, audience participation is guaranteed: after the central concepts of the programme has been explained, we can look forward to a true jam session kicking off in Banner Square. Because the best kind of music is the one where everyone gets involved!
