Vilmos Gryllus is a founding member of the Kossuth and Prima Primissima Prize-winning Kaláka ensemble, the composer and performer of dozens of musical works for theatre and television. Hundreds of thousands of children have grown up on his music through the fairytale series Égbőlpottyant mesék, jointly made with Péter Levente and broadcast on Hungarian Television since 1991. Since 1992, he has published four books of songs for children; the first about the seasons, the second about nature ...and animals, the third about his experiences on a bicycle tour and the fourth a set of adaptations of folk songs. A good many of these songs have since found their way into songbooks in nurseries and primary schools, and yet they are still truly best enjoyed when sung together with Vilmos Gryllus himself.
There are two opportunities to do just this on this day at the Palace of Arts, moreover in the company of some outstanding musical guests. All the ingredients are therefore present so that - in Gryllus's own words - "everyone can sing together in the auditorium; children, mums and dads, sopranos and basses, since everyone knows: It's good to sing!”
