Poems live in music, and music lives in them. It never would have occurred to early Hungarian poets Bálint Balassi and Mihály Csokonai to write a verse without music. And it is a rare indeed to find a poem by Sándor Weöres that does not have a melody hidden in it somewhere. Prima Primissima Award-winning poet János Lackfi has collaborated with a great many bands - different ensembles from Napra to Csík, and from Kaláka to Misztrál - as well as individual performers ranging from Ági Szalók...i to Edina Mókus Szirtes to Zséda. He roams freely across every form of song, writing Kapolcs folk tunes and Sanskrit chants, traditional storytellers' songs and waltzes, blues and country, hexameters and Yugoslav style. This will be an emotional journey
into the realm where music meets the Hungarian language, full of humour, love, pain and excitement. At the end of the evening, the poet and the musicians will be inviting the audience to join in with the wild improvisation on stage.
