Since their formation in 1969, Kaláka - from generation to generation, and from record to record - have been synonymous with settings to music of masterpieces of Hungarian and world poetry. During their career the group has released 27 albums and written close to 1,000 songs in their own characteristic and consistent style. They received the Kossuth Prize in the year 2000 for their work, and the Prima Primissima Prize in 2004. Kaláka's extraordinary oeuvre speaks for itself and they scarcely nee...d an introduction to the audience at the Palace of Arts, but on this occasion the band offers a unique experience beyond the evergreen Kaláka feeling so superbly amplified by Rackajam. This will be their first concert to feature Tibor Tátrai, adding overtones of rock guitar to the sung verses and folk tunes. Now celebrating 40 years in music, Márta Sebestyén has appeared in concert with Kaláka on a number of occasions, although this will be the first time she has sung Kaláka songs with the group. This will also be the first time artist Ferenc Cakó has created sand animations for Kaláka songs. And so, at the risk of sounding clichéd, one thing is for sure: there has never been a concert like this in the 45-year history of Kaláka so far.
