The principal link between Evelin Tóth and Maria João this evening is Portugal. In the first half, the former makes an excursion into the realms of fado in presenting her new album Maya, with projections adding colour to the music. In the second half, the latter - herself a native of Portugal, and a return visitor to the Palace of Arts - sings with her Ogre Trio. For what promises to be an exceptional concert, the ladies are also preparing to perform songs together. It is truly an extraordinary ...occasion for two female singers whose careers coincide at several points to share the stage together. In ethno-jazz, avant-garde or electronic music alike, both artists soar far above stylistic or geographical boundaries.
