New Orleans Swing Festival

Just like Müpa Budapest itself, the New Orleans Swing Festival is celebrating an important anniversary: this will be its fifteenth year of opening the season with a three-day programme aimed at pleasing fans of traditional jazz. Once again, everyone will be able to enjoy a concert hall performance right on the first day. This programme will feature singer Nikoletta Szőke, along with her guest duet partner Bálint Gájer, both accompanied by her regular rhythm section and the Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok, performing a special arrangement of familiar songs from Hollywood films. The next day will serve as an opportunity to wish a happy 35th birthday to the Bohém Ragtime Jazz Band in the Festival Theatre as they play hits from the golden age of jazz history together with other musicians, including both singers and instrumentalists, and joined on stage by dancers. On Sunday, Eszter Váczi will have a surprise in store for her fans when she takes the stage with Martin Breinschmid and the Austrian-Hungarian group The Dream Makers, as it is rare indeed for her to sing golden oldies from the early swing era.
