The Rising Stars series, launched by the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) with the aim of showcasing young talents, has been delighting audiences at Müpa Budapest for many years. For Hungarian music lovers, it is particularly heart-warming when one of our compatriots is among the lucky ones selected to tour the continent's most prominent concert venues. This year Müpa Budapest's nominee, Júlia Pusker, will perform at the Festival Theatre with a programme that is a true reflection of her talent and versatility.

She began her musical education at the Liszt Academy in Budapest before moving to England to study with György Pauk at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she received her Master of Music degree with distinction in 2016. Between 2016 and 2021, she was Artist-in-Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Brussels, working with Augustin Dumay. This is where she met the pianist accompanying her: Ukrainian Christia Hudziy, who studied in Paris, Lyon and Milan before becoming a co...ach in Brussels's Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, in the class of Augustin Dumay. The first two pieces of the concert will be for solo violin without accompaniment. The solo sonatas of the legendary Belgian violinist and composer Eugène Ysaÿe are major milestones in the instrument's repertoire. Ysaÿe dedicated his Sonata No 1, performed at the concert, to József Szigeti. Three Pieces for Solo Violin by French composer Éric Tanguy also make the most of the solo violin's potentials, showcasing it from a novel perspective. This will be the unmissable contemporary Hungarian premiere, a steady feature of the Rising Stars concerts. The two other pieces written for violin and piano, Debussy's Sonata (1917) and Bartók's Rhapsody No. 1 (1928) are energetic and prominent opuses from the violin literature of the first half of the 20th century.
