At this concert, on behalf of the Bridging Europe Festival the Dutch saxophonist Tineke Postma, Hungarian guitarist Márton Fenyvesi and the American drummer Tristan Renfrow, who resides in Amsterdam, will unite their powers to create music of the quality that people familiar with their work have come to expect - though it will also be full of surprises and hidden thrills. Three free spirits, versatile musicians and bold composers, who through shared improvisations and pieces written especially for the occasion find each other through their acoustic and in some cases electronic instruments.

In 2019, Tineke Postma was chosen by DownBeat magazine as the best breakthrough artist for her chosen instrument. Her 2020 album Freya was met with enthusiastic acclaim across a wide array of different platforms, while last year the Académie du Jazz named her European Jazz Musician of the Year. Postma has also collaborated on two Grammy-award winning albums, Terri Lyne Carrington's The Mosaic Project and Dianne Reeves's Beautiful. She has worked alongside Kenny Baron, Esperanza Spalding, G...eri Allen and the Metropole Orkest. She is currently a teacher at Codarts in Rotterdam and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Márton Fenyvesi enjoyed a scholarship at the latter institution, before continuing his studies at the Conservatoire de Paris and the Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium in Copenhagen. In 2009, he founded the international quartet Amsterdam-Budapest Underground. Fenyvesi has worked alongside numerous figures in the Hungarian jazz scene, and is currently operating with increasing regularity as a sound engineer, producer and instrumentalist. The multi-award-winning Tristan Renfrow has been living in Amsterdam since 2015 and has been a member of the Tineke Postma Quartet for many years.
The bass-free trio will present lyrical and groove elements in combination with some astonishing moments, as we enjoy not only the geographical link but a true spiritual connection between the three musicians.
