Cancelled events on Budapest Wagner Days

2023. February 14.

We wish to inform you that, after considering the potential risks of the current, constantly changing economic environment, Müpa Budapest will run the Budapest Wagner Days festival in June 2023 with a more modest programme than previously announced, although still one of outstanding quality and brimming with international stars.

In order to ensure the secure financial viability of the festival, the two performances of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg scheduled for 4 and 21 June 2023, the Mahler song recital by Bo Skovhus on 14 June 2023 and the concert performance of excerpts from Parsifal on 23 June 2023 have been cancelled. Paid ticket holders will have 30 days from the day following the scheduled date of the performance to request a refund. The deadline for claiming refunds for Wagner+ subscriptions is 23 July 2023. Refunds can be requested either on the website set up for this purpose or in person at Müpa Budapest’s ticket offices. Please note that our ticket offices operate under limited hours during the summer.

These changes do not affect the other programmes of the Budapest Wagner Days festival: Müpa Budapest will present The Ring of the Nibelung as planned over the course of four consecutive evenings between 15 and 18 June, with the previously announced cast featuring international star soloists, along with the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir and conductor Ádám Fischer, and in the staging by Hartmut Schörghofer that was technically updated in 2019.
