Special exhibition of sound sculptures by Müpa Budapest and the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta to enhance the festive ambiance

2019. December 09.

Melodies are transient, but experiences stay with us forever. This is the message conveyed by the unique sound sculptures created as part of the festive cooperation of Müpa Budapest and the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta. Based on designs by sculptor Gyula Baditz and inspired by the melodies of iconic compositions performed at Müpa Budapest this year, the 23 wooden statuettes were made at the carpenter’s workshop of the charity by the disadvantaged people employed there. What makes these sound sculptures even more special is that they are signed by the world-famous artists the selected musical pieces were rendered by, such as Diana Krall, Marcus Miller, Charlotte Gainsbourg, José Cura, Ádám Fischer and Péter Eötvös.

The Christmas exhibition of the sculptures welcomes visitors in the Banner Square of Müpa Budapest between 5 December and 5 January. Concurrently, an online auction has been launched by the Hungarian Charity Service at licit.adomanyozz.hu. Proceeds will be used to buy more tools and expand the employment potentials of the Tiszabura workshop.
