Ticket sales for the Beethoven Marathon open on 30 October

On 2 February 2020, Müpa, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, together with the most prominent Hungarian musicians will celebrate one of the greatest superstars of classical music with in an ecstatic marathon production. Commemorating the legendary composer born 250 years ago, the Beethoven marathon boasts illustrious orchestras including the Danubia Orchestra Óbuda, the MÁV Symphony Orchestra, the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra, the Budapest Strings Chamber Orchestra and the Pannon Philharmonic. In a line-up featuring Júlia Pusker, Miklós Perényi, and Dénes Várjon, Zoltán Fejérvári will play two piano sonatas, while Kristóf Baráti and Klára Würtz will treat the audience to the Kreutzer Sonata. Musicians of the BFO will also give a chamber concert, while the youngest visitors will have a chance to get to know Beethoven better — thanks to a concert for children by György Lakatos.

The programme of the final concert features Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 with a unique line-up: the four movements will be conducted by the four winners of the competition for amateur conductors, launched by the Budapest Festival Orchestra based on Iván Fischer’s idea.
