Visitors can access Müpa Budapest by boat from 25 April

2017. April 28.

The Müpa Budapest-National Theatre boat pier has now been officially opened, which means visitors attending Müpa Budapest performances now have the option of arriving by scheduled boat service.

At the handover ceremony of the new pier, Deputy Mayor Alexandra Szalay-Bobrovniczky emphasised the symbolic value of the development, saying that “A trip such as this, where passengers can take in the wonderful Budapest panorama, truly sets the mood for the cultural experience to follow.”

Müpa Budapest CEO Csaba Káel stressed that he considers it a huge achievement that in the course of the past 12 years, Müpa Budapest has not just become an emblematic cultural facility to the capital city, but has also grown into a true and easily accessible, vibrant meeting point, beloved by audiences and visiting artists alike.

The D11 and D12 boat lines from Újpest and Rómaifürdő, respectively, now travel on an extended route to the Müpa Budapest-National Theatre pier. The very first boat arrived at the new pier on 25 April, and after the conclusion of the opening ceremony visitors can now arrive by scheduled boats on each day of the week.
