Having covered Mozart, Beethoven and Mendelssohn, our popular Do you love…? series - featuring the musicians of Concerto Budapest and promising talents groomed for the stage at the Academy of Music, under the artistic direction of András Keller and with the cooperation of the Palace of Arts - now turns to the music of Franz Schubert. Targeting a regular audience which, to our great delight, is growing ever larger, we attempt to gain a closer perspective on the genius of Schubert over four ...concerts in the first four months of 2014, once again calling on the assistance of literature and the fine arts, and uttering words which, as they transform into sounds, gain a deeper meaning through the mutual mental gymnastics of audience and moderator. We welcome our regular guests and await new arrivals! (András Batta)
Schubert passed his everyday life as a (petit bourgeois) citizen of Vienna in the atmosphere of Biedermeier fashions and styles. Accordingly, the theme of the third concert in the series is dance, movements of a dance-like character (among them the wonderful Hungarian Melody), and Viennese "tavern music.”
