Dmitri Kitayenko studied in Leningrad, Moscow and Vienna. His international career was launched when he won a prize at the Herbert von Karajan Conducting Competition in 1969. From 1976 onwards, he was principal conductor of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra for a period of 14 years, then principal conductor of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra between 1990 and 1996. He is a regular guest of leading European, Japanese and North American symphony orchestras.
Sergei Krylov was born into... a family of musicians in Moscow. When still a youth, he won the Rodolfo Lipizer International Violin Competition, and then - as a student of Salvatore Accardo - followed this with victories in the Stradivari Competition in Cremona and the Kreisler Competition in Vienna. On a steeply ascending career path, he has performed in numerous prestigious concert halls in Europe, America and the Far East, working with orchestras such as the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Saint Petersburg Philharmonic, Camerata Academica Salzburg, Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra and Czech Philharmonic. He enjoyed a close musical and personal relationship with Mstislav Rostropovich, who had a defining influence on the progress of his artistic career and with whom he performed together on many occasions. He has also collaborated with important conductors of our times, such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Valery Gergiev, Yuri Temirkanov, Mikhail Pletnev, Saulius Sondeckis, Zoltán Kocsis and Yuri Bashmet.
