Wagner: Die Meistersingers – Overture Beethoven: Egmont Overture, op. 84 Tchaikovsky: Swan Lake, op. 20 Bartók: Concerto Japan’s first university amateur orchestra, the Keio University Wagner Orchestra was founded in 1901. The ensemble was named after one of the most revolutionary composers in music, Richard Wagner. Since it was founded, it has given over 2000 concerts. Its chief conductors have included Otsuka Atsuhi, the „father of the orchestra”, Fujio Nakayama, Hikotaro Yazaki and Nao...hiro Totsuka. In 2002, he led the orchestra’s celebrations of its 100 year anniversary. Their 2006 European concert tour began at the Budapest Congress Centre, before enchanting audiences in Vienna, Bamberg and Prague.
