Ravel: Tombeau de Couperin Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto in E minor, op. 64 Saint-Saëns: Symphony no. 3 in C minor („Organ”), op. 78 The Suisse Romande Orchestra established its international reputation thanks to the hard work of the great Ernest Ansermet. He led the ensemble for just under fifty years, until 1967. He was succeeded by five conducting greats, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Armin Jordan, Fabio Luisi and – from 2005 – Marek Janowski. This superb conductor is highly regarded as an interpr...eter of French music and the German romantic repertoire and this is reflected in the programme he brings to Budapest. The soloist in Mendelssohn’s concert is a 28 year old German violinist, much supported by Anne-Sophie Mutter.
