In 2007, the doyenne of contemporary music, Pierre Boulez gave one of his latest works its world premiere with the Vienna Philharmonic. As part of its Instrument and Bato...n series, the National Philharmonic has invited soloists and composers who also conductors. Today’s guest, Jörg Widmann is both clarinettist and composer. His works are characterized by their exciting sound world, and polyphonic textured structures based on German traditions.
