This evening, we will hear woodwind and string instruments playing creations that are rarely heard yet remain exciting and special. "Imagine a sundial that revolves around its own immobile centre at high speeds, shooting out fiery darts,” writes one of the most important composers of our time, Sofia Gubaidulina. The work suggestive of troubadour poetry chosen from the oeuvre of Jean Françaix is also connected to light, while the second part with cello is opened by the work from Leoš Janáček. For... his part, Francis Poulenc juxtaposes two wind instruments of very different character in the company of the piano. The composition by Sándor Veress reconceptualises authentic folk music in the same way that Bartók did in his 44 Duos, which strike a perfect balance between études and performance pieces.
