Ever since their establishment, the Hungarian Radio Symphonic Orchestra have been dedicated performers of contemporary music, and this has been the case particularly since Gergely Vajda took over leadership. The two featured artists of this concert also deserve special mention. Born into a musicians' family, Patricia Kopatchinskaja studied in Vienna after her parents had emigrated there in 1989, and earned her diploma in Bern in 2000. The young violinist has played with the world's most fa...mous orchestras and conductors, and has already performed in Budapest. Contemporary works constitute a significant part of her repertoire. Gergely Madaras is a rising star not only as a flautist, but more and more so as a conductor, having such artists for masters as Pierre Boulez and James Levine. He is currently first conductor of the Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne.
A stage conversation under the title Preface will precede the concert from 6.30 pm, giving ticket holders the opportunity to better familiarise themselves with the musicians and the works they will perform.
