We have two relevant and memorable fundamental experiences from the Metropolitan: The 1983 video recording of "The Power of Fate” featuring Leontyne Price's ethereal and pure Leonora, and a 1996 television broadcast with Plácido Domingo in the role of the persecuted Alvaro. Now, it's time for us to witness the 21st-century production of La Forza del Destino, re-imagined with a modern-day setting by acclaimed director Mariusz Treliński. At only in her mid-thirties, Norwegian soprano Lise Da...vidsen has conquered the world of opera, taking on iconic female roles from Ariadne to the Marschallin, and Leonora in Fidelio. This time, she is preparing to add another notable Leonora to her repertoire, promising a momentous occasion in operatic history. As Don Alvaro, the American tenor Brian Jagde, who has been regularly performing at the Metropolitan since 2014, takes the stage.
