Ferenc 'Tata' Novák's oeuvre is remarkably rich. His works have been performed in major theatres around the world, and his theatrical successes include Csíksomlyó Passion, Stonemason Kelemen and Stephen, the King, as well as numerous folk culture productions at the Szeged Open-air Festival. For six years, he enjoyed great success as director-choreographer at Amsterdam's International Dance Theatre. Tonight, the National Dance Theatre and Hungarian Dance Association bring together friends, studen...ts and colleagues to wish the Kossuth Prize-winning choreographer and Artist of the Nation many happy returns. Appearing will be two Prima Primissima Award-winning troupes: the Bihari Ensemble he himself founded and the Army Ensemble (now the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble) he led for three decades, along with soloists, actors and musician friends. The programme also includes a documentary film screening.
