"Two human stars, united for ever for the sake of what is good and true.”
A work against decay and destruction, against all powers that would hold them back, for young people. The production draws from László Nagy's poem The Wedding to show the events that take place after the marriage ceremony, the bustle around the wedding celebration, and the two young people, now forged into a couple. They, however, become enmeshed in wedding festivities that instead of embracing the process of of the ...great and holy tradition and the renewal of life, is instead the showy and drastic opposite. Here in the whirlwind of dance, the wedding becomes its own opposite: weak morals are quickly revealed, and lives come crashing down one after the other.
Only the symbol of the sublime married couple, frozen like statues, and the pure duet they do together can help.
The première was an event of the Budapest Spring Festival.
Presented by: National Dance Theatre
