A student at Vienna's music academy, Dániel Foki competed successfully as a singer in between instrumental productions. The baritone with the beautiful voice - winner in his category of the 2011 József Simándy Singing Competition - enjoys cooking and Asian martial arts in his spare time. Practically glittering with fantastic dramatic skills and sparkling humour during the talent search, he takes to lyrical roles on the stage. All of these attributes will also blossom in the songs of Mozart... and Rossini.
Accordionist Mihály Demeniv won the jury's special prize in the finals of Virtuosos, earning him a chance to appear at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. With his unusual instrument - and no more than a week to learn and practice it - he played one of Vivaldi's most popular violin concertos from The Four Seasons cycle as if the Italian master had originally written the work, one demanding amazing virtuosity, for the accordion. And if fussy know-it-all Filibert remonstrates, the young - now in his early 20s - musician will answer with his playing: it is possible to play anything at all on the accordion, although you do need to be Mihály Demeniv to do so.
Jury member and world-famous soprano Erika Miklósa will be accompanying the two wonderful young artists to the podium, where Mátyás Antal, another talent who achieved popularity at a young age, will conduct the Hungarian National Philharmonic.
