The Argentine tenor burst onto the international opera scene in the mid-1990s, quickly rising to the top ranks, which his presence has continued to strengthen ever since. And yet initially he also required some luck. Although he was noticed by Luciano Pavarotti, who immediately invited him to the finals of the international voice competition bearing his name, in his home country it was only after several unsuccessful auditions that he was coincidentally heard by another legendary tenor, Giuseppe Di Stefano. "You have good instincts; you remind me of myself when I was a young man,” the Golden Voice told him, before turning to the others and adding: "This young man sings with his heart, he will have a great career!” And so it proved.
