As Hungary's premier electronic band, Anima Sound System has had audiences dancing for some 20 years now, winning numerous awards along the way (Arany Zsiráf - Golden Giraffe, Fonogram and the VIVA Comet Hungarian Pop Music Award). Perhaps the band's greatest strengths are this ability to make people dance, the passionate atmosphere of their concerts and their courage as artists, as shown in their capacity for periodic renewal; to give up on already proven formulas and develop entirely new... ones. In concert, they have managed to remain an entertaining pop group appealing to many generations. Anima were formed in Szombathely in 1993 by Zsolt Prieger, Szabolcs Prieger and Gergely Németh, a writing trio that has remained unchanged to this day after ten records and 20 years working together. What continues to make the constantly changing character of their music special is primarily their sense of playfulness, the colourful texture of their music and its mix of styles, embracing modern electronic dance music, reggae and dub, hip hop and pop, traditional songs and musical experiments, Transylvanian Hungarian folk, and a huge number of radio and video hits, such as '68 or Csinálj gyereket.
Over the years, the band has collaborated with international stars such as Asian Dub Foundation, De-Phazz, Terry Lee Brown Jr., JC 001 and Kim Cascone, music producer of the series Twin Peaks. They have had a major influence on numerous musicians and DJs both at home and abroad, as well as acting as producers for others in a wide variety of styles from metal to jazz hip-hop to techno. In two decades, Anima has had many different singers who have since gone on to prove themselves in other styles, while today's front woman is none other than Fanni Prieger, who sang as a child 12 years ago on the band's video hit Tekerd!
This concert will feature the big hits of the past 20 years in acoustic arrangements, with many well-known guests joining the band on stage. We can expect an interesting evening as Anima have never performed unplugged in this way in their two decades of playing together.
