Dar Gnawa, who preserve the ancient gnawa music (the music of Sub-Saharan Africa, a style mixing Berber and Arab music), are playing with one of the greats of world jazz, tenor saxophonist Archie Shep, who first expressed an interest in African – then Algerian – music in the sixties. Anouar Brahem, who was born in Tunisia, is a supreme exponent of the Arabic lute, and brings an international brand which through remarkable changes of instruments, present the uniquely individual sonority of music with roots in North Africa.
