Dávid Varga is a true crowd pleaser. After reaching the final of the Az ének iskolája (The School of Singing) TV show and finishing high up in the Berklee College of Music's singing competition, he and his group won the Audience Award at the 2021 Jazz Showcase. All the performers on International Jazz Day are prizewinners. At the Showcase, his quintet wowed the crowd with some new tunes in addition to some more familiar compositions
Together with his band, Dávid Varga strives to evoke the original atmosphere of swing music. His role models are Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Michael Bublé. Usually, the band provide the audience with a taster of the repertoires of these singers. The band's eponymous frontman graduated from the jazz department of the Liszt Academy. He has shared the stage with artists of the calibre of Quincy Jones, Bobby McFerrin, Richard Bona, Dee Dee Bridgewater, John Clayton, Andreas Varady and Gájer Báli...nt. On this occasion, the alto saxophone will be played by Sándor Soso Lakatos, who completed his jazz studies in Amsterdam. He later received the Dezső Lakatos Ablakos Jazz Performing Arts Scholarship in Hungary and has also won the Gyula Csepregi Saxophone Competition. He is a much sought-after performer in Europe and beyond. Zsolt Farkas is a student in the jazz piano course at the Liszt Academy. His musical partners have included Ferenc Snétberger, Josh Ginsburg, Elemér Balázs, Nikoletta Szőke and Tony Lakatos. Adrián Szajkó graduated from the music academy in the Slovakian city of Selmecbánya (Banská Štiavnica). He has worked together with a number of famous jazz musicians, including Ferenc Snétberger, Gábor Winand and Béla Szakcsi Lakatos Jr. András Márkosi completed his studies at the jazz drumming department of the Liszt Academy. He has performed alongside Szakcsi Lakatos Jr., János Egri and Gábor Winand.
