Now in its ninth year, the four-day programme of the Jazzforum Budapest focuses on Poland, the country that will succeed Hungary in the European Union presidency. The first performer in this opening concert is 25-year-old Polish pianist Pawel Kaczmarczyk, who has earned the album of the year title from Jazz Forum, a European magazine, on two separate occasions for his orchestral recordings. The second half of the concert will see the unusual confluence of two seemingly unrelated genres. The Regg...ae Septet, an international collective, plays a surprising combination of jazz and reggae.
