Singer Juli Fábián and Zoltán Palásti Kovács, who goes by the name Zoohacker, took to the stage together in 2011, and have enjoyed a string of successes ever since. Their song Like a Child propelled them to the Hungarian finals of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, and half a dozen of their compositions have now topped the playlists of domestic radio stations. Their unique style can be picked up from the first moment: although Juli and Zoohacker come from different musical backgrounds (the ...singer from jazz, the producer from electronic music), the knowledge, experience and style of both artists has found its place in the songs they create together, taking shape as an exciting, distinctive and quality brand of pop music.
The group's first album was released in May 2015 under the title Shine: the dozen songs it contains, besides summarising their careers so far, feature many new elements, such as the reworking of Hungarian folk song Vásárhely. Since the release of the record, the pair has been constantly on the road, filling Hungary's leading concert venues at the front of their seven-piece band. The crowning moment of their nationwide tour will be their performance at Müpa Budapest's Béla Bartók National Concert Hall, where they will present their songs in a thoroughly rearranged form supplemented by a symphony orchestra. The "icing on the cake” is the guest appearance of Carl Avory, a Vienna-based British jazz and soul singer with whom they enjoy a long-standing friendship.
Juli and Zoohacker made a previous appearance at Müpa Budapest in 2013 - giving an acoustic performance on the Festival Theatre stage - while the singer has featured as a guest star for a number of projects within these walls, but the excitement in the build-up to the concert on 31 March outstrips all these. "For me, Müpa is the definition of quality and good taste,” says Juli. "If I perform here - and luckily this has happened a few times - my spirit always leaps. I love it!” Zoohacker backs up his writing partner's words: "Performing at Müpa has brought me the highest degree of inspiration as a performer and artist on every occasion so far. The atmosphere enchants and humbles me completely.”
