Although most people in Hungary know Karaván Família as purveyors of Roma (Gypsy) folk music, its musicians are involved in an increasing number of projects that draw on a much broader musical palette. The group has long been no stranger to the rock and pop genres, and has managed to absorb a variety of musical styles into its work without compromising its own. Seeing as pop-rock is on the menu, Karaván has assembled the best on the local music scene to present a veritable super-production for... the Müpa audience. Among its guests are Veronika Harcsa, Bori Péterfy, Kowalsky, Krisztián Szűcs of Heaven Street Seven, KRSA from the Pannonia Allstars Ska Orchestra, Balázs Tanka from Turbo, Szabi Papp of Supernem, Zoltán Czutor, and Subscribe frontmen Bálint Csongor and Máté Tilk. The diversity in style of the guest musicians in itself promises to make the concert a colourful experience, but added to this is that the performing musicians will bring their own songs along, arranged in the style of their hosts, with additional Gypsy motifs and verses sung in the Lovari language. This illustrious company of musicians originally intended the musical experiment as a one-off, but word of mouth around the city combined with the internet soon made the special occasion into a cult, prompting the public to demand a sequel. The Palace of Arts promises to witness an even bigger event as this huge assembly of talent performs both their own compositions and a selection of iconic Hungarian pop hits of the past 40 years.
