The Glass Hall at the Palace of Arts will be transformed into an atmospheric lounge, where three live concerts will feature alongside jazz and world music concert recordings selected by Müpa Stúdió. The programme runs from 6 in the afternoon until 2 in the morning for all visitors who might fancy a little musical diversion before, after or even during their exploration of the exhibitions at the Ludwig Museum.
6 pm Screening of jazz and world music concerts
8 pm Lamm-Egr...i-Fekete Trio
Over the past decade, Dávid Lamm has tried his hand at a surprising number of musical genres from reggae to r'n'b and funk, but it is jazz guitar music that is closest to his heart. At the Long Night of the Museums, he will perform a selection of standards and his own compositions. He is joined by one of the country's most defining musicians in the form of János Egri, a frequent Müpa guest who has given already unforgettable concerts here with Steve Grossmann and others. The trio is completed by István Fekete.
10 pm János Nagy (piano) and Tamara Mózes (piano, vocals)
The remarkable duo of Erkel Award-winning composer and jazz pianist János Nagy and pianist-singer Tamara Mózes lends itself to the exploration of a broad range of musical ideas. The musicians freely soar through the constantly evolving possibilities of playing together, taking the audience to ever new musical universes. Their show comprises their own compositions and standards, with plenty of improvisation.
Midnight Rozina Pátkai (vocals) and Mátyás Tóth (guitar)
Rozina Pátkai's band was first introduced to the audience at the Palace of Arts in January 2013 as part of the Jazz Showcase series. Tonight, she will perform in a duo with Mátyás Tóth that primarily plays bossa nova, playing on its authentic melodies in the Brazilian performance style and unique outlook to its songs. Rejecting restrictive formulas, they allow broader scope for improvisation, incorporating modern musical elements and the musical formulation of fleeting thoughts. Their programme entitled Bossa Novas received a special prize at the 2011 Budapest Fringe Festival, the Sell-out Show Laurel at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and the "Best Duo” prize at the Gödöllő Jazz and Pop Music Festival.
Entry is free.
