We would like, even during this extraordinary situation, for the Müpa Budapest audience to still be able to encounter the world's most outstanding and thrilling artists each evening - this time in their own homes. It is precisely for this reason that we have decided to unlock our media library for everyone over the weeks to come and - each night at the familiar times - open Müpa Budapest's virtual concert hall and auditoriums by providing access to a single unforgettable performance from past years.
The performance will be broadcasted on our website, Facebook-page and YouTube channel.
After four sold-out symphonic concerts, Magashegyi Underground are returning to Müpa Budapest with a brand new show. During the Holdfényváros (Moonlight City) concert, the very name of which captures the dualistic, urban and romantic pers...onality of the band's members, Magashegyi reach for pared-down but modern instrumentation to perform both their older and recent songs.
Magashegyi Underground were one of Petőfi Radio's earliest discoveries and have since become one of the most successful bands on the Hungarian alternative scene. Their sound is constantly changing and evolving, with the three albums released so far drawing a notable arc from simple, pleasant, urban folk songs to their current sophisticated, Magashegyi-style pop music, which often features electronic instruments. With their older songs readjusted to fit in with their current sound, Magashegyi leave little time for their audiences to get bored. The group are now embarking on a completely new adventure: their acoustic literary show promises a more polished, ethereal sound and a genuine intellectual experience. They have toyed with contemporary Hungarian literature on more than one occasion across their more than ten years of career (creating songs from the poetry of Lajos Parti Nagy and Anna T. Szabó, and also working with Péter Závada), and in this concert they bring that connection even closer, playing songs containing lyrics written specifically for this unique evening at the Festival Theatre.
This recording was made at a concert held at Müpa Budapest on 10 May 2018.
