Alexander Balanescu, Ferenc Kovács – violin, Kálmán Balogh – cimbalom, Mátyás Szandai – double bass, Péter Bede – saxophone This band comprising of the world famous Romanian violinist and the finest from Hungarian jazz and contemporary music made its debut in 2008. Of course, it was a huge success and they will soon make their American debut. The founder and dynamo of the Magony group is Ferenc Kovács who has formed or been a member of numerous Hungarian ensembles and delved into everything... imaginable from classical music to folk. Magony play jazz, Hungarian and Balkan music as well as klezmer. Ferenc Kovács’s violinist partner is the great Alexander Balanescu. Together these two artists play with a unique power, although it is only when playing with the other three musicians that their dialogue reaches full fruition.
