Random Trip is a series of improvisational concerts spanning generic boundaries (pop, rock, jazz, hip-hop, blues, electro and more) featuring the biggest names in the twenty- and thirty-something generation of Hungarian popular music. Initially launched from Budapest clubs as a weekly club evening in late 2008 and early 2009, the event has by now "outgrown” its original framework and is now a welcome guest at festivals and top clubs in the provinces, while the list of performers is regular...ly augmented by international music stars.
The leading figures in the concert series are Jávor Delov, drummer of Turbo, and DJ Q-Cee of Vinyl Warriorz, around whom a changing line-up of musicians plays on each occasion. Among those to perform with them regularly are members of Brains, Akkezdet Phiai, Carbonfools, Zagar, Ivan & The Parazol, Supernem, United, Hősök, Juli Fábián & Zoohacker, Irie Maffia and Quimby. The roll-call of renowned foreign musicians to have performed on the Random Trip stage so far includes Peter Legath (Count Basic), Brandon Fields (Tower of Power, George Benson, Dave Weckl Band), Schradinova (NL), Timo Lassy (Five Corners Quintet), Big John Whitfield (US/Austria), iLLspokinn (US) and Dub FX (AUS). The musicians playing the Müpa concert will be those who receive the loudest ovations at Random Trip gigs in the coming weeks. So put your hands together!
