Ferenc Sebő – vocals, hurdy-gurdy, guitar, Iván Barvich – tarogato, Bulgarian kaval, panpipe, dvojnica, cello-tambura, viola-tambura, László Perger – prime-tambura, Bulgarian-tambura, guitar Led by Ferenc Sebő, the Sebő Group has helped shape Hungarian folk music life since the seventies. Besides performing, the preservation of traditions and teaching has always been an important side of their three decades of work. Alongside authentic performances of folk music, the Sebő Group are also lead...ing lights in another connected genre, the setting of Hungarian verse to music. Generations of Hungarians have grown up knowing their musical versions of famous poems. Sebő was the first to set Attila József’s poems to music when in 1969 he was invited by Kati Berek to a programme about the poet. Since then, they have illuminated the work of other poets, such as László Nagy and Sándor Weöres. In 2005, their Attila József poetry album was published.
