Müpa Budapest is getting ready for the autumn and winter months of the 2023/24 season with some returning international stars

In the autumn and winter months of the 2023/24 season, the audience will get the chance to welcome many international stars back to Müpa Budapest, with tickets for the new season’s productions available under a more flexible system replacing the familiar season tickets.

The audience will receive another opportunity to welcome to the concert stage the orchestra of one of the world’s oldest musical institutions, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, while the legendary vocal sextet the King’s Singers, with a history of more than fifty years, are bringing their latest album. Accompanied by Joshua Bell, one of the most celebrated violinists of our time, and with the world-class conductor Alan Gilbert at their helm, the NDR Elbphilharmonie will also make their return, as will the Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson, delighting his Hungarian fans with Bach’s Goldberg Variations. 
We will get to see Elvis Costello at Müpa Budapest again after an absence of almost ten years, and Ludovico Einaudi is giving a concert certain to be as unforgettable as the one he put on in 2017. Cory Henry will be arriving with a much larger instrumental lineup than he brought for his last concert, and we have some real surprises in store when the Danish guitarist Jakob Bro and the American saxophonist Joe Lovano electrify jazz lovers together with a line-up never before heard in Hungary. 
 
János Feledi has several pieces to present, including a new one he choreographed to the music of this year’s Composer of the Season, György Orbán, whose Artisjus Award-winning Requiem will also be performed by the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra on All Saints’ Day. The newly selected Ensemble of the Season, the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble, also has two exciting premières in the works: Végvárak (‘Border Castles’), an adaptation of the novel The Testament of the Koppány Castle Agha, and another treating the life of the revolutionary poet Sándor Petőfi.

For the holiday season, we warmly recommend the Advent concerts by the legendary Viennese boys’ choir the Wiener Sängerknaben and the Cantemus Choir Family, as well as the joint evening Zsolt Máté Mészáros, one of the most successful young organists working today, is planning together with the Béla Bartók Female Choir of Szeged.
Rome is the destination for this year’s Bridging Europe programme series jointly presented by Müpa Budapest and the Budapest Festival Orchestra, and the Müpa Film Club is compiling its own series titled The Great Woody Allen Tour from the remarkable oeuvre of the actor/writer/director.
Also returning for the 2023/24 season will be our extremely popular dance and contemporary circus productions, including hit performances by the Ballet Company of Győr, the Badora Dance Company and Ballet Pécs, along with the spectacular cirque danse shows by Recirquel. We are also continuing Müpa Budapest’s popular literary programmes, the Literarium events and Poetry Recitals, as well as the Rising Stars series presenting Europe’s most promising young musicians.

In keeping with the institution’s traditions, members of the Müpa+ membership programme are the first to get the opportunity to pre-purchase tickets. Platinum-level members will be able to pre-purchase tickets for the announced programmes starting from 10 am on 19 April, with gold-level members joining in at the same time on Thursday the 20th, followed by silver-level members later that same day at 2 pm. Sales will open to basic-level members and the general public at 10 am on Friday, 21 April.
